About this excursion

Students perform an in depth study of the Eucalyptus forest within Nattai National Park and identify features that make it unique. Students will also undertake a quadrat study and use a range of scientific tools to measure abiotic variables and observe the features of the environment. Students learn about specific plant and animal adaptations to this unique environment. They will also be involved in an interactive learning experience with our collection of taxidermy species.

Excursion activities

Session 1: Geographic Significance and fieldwork
Students view satellite images and raised relief map and discuss the geographic significance of the area. Students then identify and learn to use a range of scientific and geographic tools and techniques before heading out to out quadrats to collect quantitative data using appropriate tools.
Lunch
Students have recess before activities and a lunch break between session 1 and session 2.
Session 2: Adaptations of Australian Flora and Fauna
Students will investigate adaptations of native flora and fauna using onsite examples.
