Patterns in Nature

About this excursion

Our serene lookouts and easy walking trails provide the perfect backdrop for students to develop creative and critical thinking skills as they make artworks inspired by the Australian bush! During a short walk through Nattai National Park students will stop at our 150 year old termite mound to learn about the role of invertebrates in the eco system and use found materials to create ephemeral sculptures. At the Chapel Lookout, students identify shapes and patterns found in native plant specimens and create printed artworks using geletin plates, ink and natural found materials.

Excursion activities

Session 2: Dipnetting and Classroom study
